This was reported by the local publication Err.ee.
According to the publication, the aircraft were manufactured using low-observability technologies and will remain in Eastern Europe for several weeks. F-35 fighter-bombers will be used to “practice interaction” with the command and pilots of NATO allied forces.
Previously, the US Air Force announced its intention to deploy these newest aircraft in the F-35A modification to Europe in early 2020. The possibility of using the F-35 for some time in protecting the air borders of the Baltic countries was announced last summer by American General Herbert Carlisle, speaking before Congress.
He also said that the F-35's job is to send a signal to potential opponents, such as Russia.
Over the course of several weeks, the new aircraft will participate in exercises alongside other US and NATO combat aircraft stationed in Europe as part of an initiative to assure European allies.
