The newest Russian frigate repelled a cruise missile attack
The frigate Admiral Grigorovich, part of the Black Sea Fleet, destroyed a cruise missile that was launched at the ship.
This is stated in a message from the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The exercises were carried out jointly with crews of the Bal and Utes anti-ship combat systems.
“During the exercise, after the launch of the Progress target missile from the launchers of the Utes complex, the air defense crew of the frigate Admiral Grigorovich discovered and escorted an air target. As a result of the use of the Shtil anti-aircraft missile system, an air target was successfully hit at a distance of more than 40 kilometers,” the Black Sea Fleet reported.
According to a military expert, captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, the joint work of sailors and missilemen showed that the military is ready to ensure security at a high level and solve assigned tasks.
“In recent years, especially with the arrival of ships of the admiral series, and the Grigorovich is the lead frigate, and with the resuscitation of the Utes, exercises using a cruise missile launched from the shore as a target missile have been resumed. Although the Utes was put into service in the 60s, in fact, its missile has undergone a cycle of modernization and is quite modern, it is capable of solving a wide range of problems, including controlling or inflicting defeat on the main part of the Black Sea.
Here the frigate practiced fighting a cruise missile launched at it, and destroyed it with its complexes. In this regard, one can be glad that the combat crews of both the missile system and the frigate can work not just in radio-electronic mode, but in its pure form, in practice. And you can make sure that the formations - both ship and shore - are in the necessary state of readiness in order to solve the tasks as intended,” Gorbachev said.
Member of the Academy of Military Sciences, expert of the “Officers of Russia” organization, rear admiral Vladimir Dudko emphasizes that today the military is testing new control systems and is ready to hit enemy targets without leaving their places of permanent deployment.
“Today Russia is developing completely new management systems, which consist of mobile means of updating events. This includes space reconnaissance, space guidance, suppression equipment, control equipment, and so on. The point is that just as the Americans conducted exercises, they had 58 ships at their bases and participated in this carrier exercise, so our ships can, while at the bases, participate in collisions without coming into direct contact, but being in constant readiness.
Therefore, all these new systems of operational control and communications, as well as weapons of the next generations, they are all already interconnected. And any, for example, massive use of missiles from ships or submarines, a group of these missiles is capable of independently flying at any formations of enemy ships, they themselves are capable of selecting the main target, hitting it and, if not defeated, returning and striking until it is destroyed.
Therefore, there is nothing surprising in these exercises - in principle, “Grigorovich” could be controlled from the shore or from a satellite, and it would have freely fired as a weapon carrier,” Dudko noted.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that from a possible attack from the sea, Crimea guards the Utes DBK, built in the late 60s, which in Soviet times was known as the secret "Object-100". After the division of the Black Sea Fleet, it went to Ukraine and was launched. It was restored at the end of 2016 after the return of Crimea to Russia.
