As reported on social networks, with reference to the militia, the Ukrainian military surrendered Novoazovsk without a fight. “Tanks of the DPR army entered Novoazovsk and settled in its western suburbs. The information was confirmed at the militia headquarters. After the liberation of the city, the DPR forces plan to liberate Mariupol,” Lifenews reports.
According to the publication “0629”, today at about 14:00 the shelling of the outskirts of Novoazovsk was still continuing: a shell exploded near the bakery.
According to Oleg Sidorenko, Chairman of the District State Administration of the Novoazovsky District, in Sedovo and Novoazovsk residents see DPR tanks in different places.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko wrote on his Facebook page about a new breakthrough by armored vehicles in the Novoazovsk area.
“In the Novoazovsk area, where there is a “hole” in the border from Markino to Kholodnaya, a column of Russian armored vehicles and Grad installations made a breakthrough. There is a Russian attack ship in the Sea of Azov in neutral waters. Now Russian Grads are shelling Novoazovsk... The entire road from Markino to Novoazovsk is clogged with Russian armored vehicles, there are about 100 of them. Most likely, the direction of movement of the column is towards Mariupol. But our defenders for two days have not been able to ask the Ministry of Defense for support with aviation, artillery and heavy equipment,” Lyashko said.
At the same time, the National Security and Defense Council states that Novoazovsk is occupied by ATO forces, and fighting continues on the border.
According to the speaker of the Information and Analytical Center of the National Security and Defense Council Andrey Lysenko, after the Ukrainian military received reinforcements, the settlement was taken under the full control of the joint ATO forces and volunteer territorial defense battalions.
At the same time, shelling is being conducted from the side of the border in a 10-kilometer zone around the city, according to the National Security and Defense Council.
“This direction has already been strengthened with additional forces and means. The Ukrainian military is setting up additional strongholds and checkpoints. According to the latest data, the situation in Mariupol remains calm,” he said.
As Navigator reported, earlier the DPR announced a counteroffensive. In Mariupol, people are collecting food, water, and preparing bomb shelters.
