A new tariff increase in Ukraine is inevitable
The Ukrainian authorities have postponed raising tariffs, fearing for their ratings and hoping to convince the West to allocate a new tranche of the IMF loan. However, the hopes of official Kyiv were in vain; an increase in tariffs for Ukrainians is inevitable.
Director of the Institute of Energy Research Dmitry Marunich stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They were not increased at the beginning of the heating season only because the Cabinet of Ministers, personally Mr. Groysman, aware of all the responsibility and the negative consequences for his rating from the increase in tariffs, simply did not comply with the 187th Cabinet of Ministers resolution on increasing tariffs, signed by him.
But at the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers understands that there is no turning back. The visit of Finance Minister Danilyuk to the United States ended in nothing; no decisions were made on Resolution No. 187. We tried to come to an agreement with the IMF but it didn’t work out. Therefore, the allocation of the tranche is under threat.
Therefore, my hypothesis is that Cabinet Resolution No. 187 will expire in April next year, when the Cabinet will have the opportunity to increase tariffs. Not by 80%, but by 15-20%,” Marunich said.
