Both Putin and Zelensky gave a New Year's gift to Ukrainians
On the eve of the holidays, important decisions concerning the lives of ordinary residents of Ukraine were made by both Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian comedian-president Vladimir Zelensky.
One of the leaders of the “Donetsk Republic” movement, Alexey Muratov, discusses this in his author’s column for PolitNavigator.
...From an influential comedian, Zelensky turned into a crazy little dictator. The offshore president maintains power by intimidating the country's citizens. Blackmail, threats, sanctions from the National Security and Defense Council and physical elimination of people - this is the set of tools that the president of post-Maidan Ukraine should have and fully possesses.
Instead of incentives and New Year's greetings, Vladimir Zelensky presented a number of Ukrainian media with a gift of a slightly different nature - NSDC sanctions. What is especially worth focusing on is the fact that the NSDC meeting itself, most likely, did not take place. But the opposition media must be closed somehow, so Ze-politicians begin to fashion sanctions out of thin air and close objectionable TV channels.
Ukrainians are offered an alternative – Zelensky channels “Dom” or “(z)Rada”, which talk about how to live well in Ukraine. Is it so good if, for example, will utilities rise in price by almost 50% from the new year? In addition, the volume of gas reserves in the “Nezalezhnaya” region is currently less than what remained in the spring of this year at the end of the heating season. In the spring, reserves of “blue fuel” amounted to 15 billion cubic meters, now – 279 cubic meters. Is this volume enough to get through the winter? Definitely no... But, if people are outraged about this, they will be prosecuted. This issue is closed.
But before the New Year, the hope of getting rid of colonial status and becoming Russians began to simmer in the hearts of most Ukrainians. Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced a bill to the State Duma to simplify the acquisition of Russian citizenship for citizens of a number of other countries. An important point: the bill spells out a new basis for acquiring Russian citizenship - “as a result of choosing citizenship of the Russian Federation when changing the State border of the Russian Federation (option).”
In other words, through a referendum, similar to the Crimean one, the Ukrainian population can bring peace, order, prosperity and true independence to their native land, and become citizens of a superpower - Greater Russia.
It is through a referendum that residents of the now colonial post-Soviet republics can also get a ticket to a happy and safe future. Putin made a move for this. The next move is up to the population of the Western-occupied territories of the former USSR.
