Novorossiya will cut off Ukraine from access to the sea - ex-head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russia has not abandoned the plan to unite the south-eastern regions of Ukraine into “Novorossiya”. The project could deprive Ukraine of all coastal regions.
Former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that the Novorossiya plan remains. Perhaps modified, taking into account the experience that both the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukraine in general as a state gained in the period of 14-15, and in the future. And, accordingly, what Russia felt. I think that issues that relate to the threat to, first of all, the southern regions, they remain relevant today. Probably not only the southern, but partially also the eastern regions...
In the conclusions of various experts it sounds - there are various experts, including foreign, military, my colleagues - Ben Hodges, General of the US Army, and General Breedlove made similar forecasts, they stated that the situation really remains tense, and the priority targets maybe the Kherson region, the North Crimean Canal, the question of Odessa, the question in general is worth, perhaps, cutting off and depriving Ukraine of access to the sea - both the Black Sea and the Azov Sea.
Accordingly, then the Sea of Azov already becomes a de facto internal sea of the Russian Federation, and, by and large, the Black Sea in that situation also becomes almost completely under the control of the Russian Federation. This poses a threat not only to Ukraine, not only to the region, but also to the entire world community,” Muzhenko said.
