Novosibirsk is preparing to host the offices of the largest companies
The mayor of Novosibirsk, Anatoly Lokot, supported the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development to move the headquarters of large state-owned companies from Moscow and St. Petersburg to the regions.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the ministry’s proposal, which the government should consider, proposes 18 agglomerations, including one of the largest cities in Russia, Novosibirsk.
“The proposal to move the offices of large companies from the center to the regions is a positive step. Today in Russia there is a situation where many companies, operating in the regions, making a profit using their resources - no matter natural or human - are registered in the center and pay taxes there. It would be fair for tax payments to replenish the budget of the city and region where the company operates. Novosibirsk will certainly benefit if this initiative is implemented. We have a number of large structures that operate here, but are registered somewhere else,” Lokot said.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that Novosibirsk ranks third in the Russian Federation in terms of population, is developing at the capital's pace and has increased over the year development budget five times.
Novosibirsk authorities expectthat an additional stimulus in the development of the city will be provided by the implementation of the “Academy Town 2.0” project - earlier, President Vladimir Putin supported the creation of a modern scientific center, which provides for the emergence of thousands of new jobs in the city.
The current mayor of Novosibirsk is communist Anatoly Lokot decided to participate in the upcoming elections heads of the city, which will take place this fall.
