News from Gazprom for Ukraine – one worse than the other
Russia managed to revive the South Stream project, which will supply gas to Europe bypassing Ukraine. True, so far in smaller volumes than previously planned.

“Over the past month, without loud statements, Gazprom signed roadmaps with Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary for the development of gas pipelines for gas supplies from the future second line of the Turkish Stream. Thus, the company is actually reviving the South Stream project, canceled in 2013 at the insistence of the European Commission, but with four times less capacity,” the publication says.
“Hungary and Serbia can now only be supplied through Ukraine, which forces Gazprom to negotiate with Kiev on transit after 2020... Gazprom’s contract for gas supplies to the country ends in 2019, and Budapest wants guarantees that they will receive Russian gas after how the Russian supplier’s transit contract with Naftogaz of Ukraine expires in the same year,” the publication explains Gazprom’s interest in building a new branch.
