A new British provocation in the Black Sea could be supported by Navy ships
The multinational exercises of NATO and partner countries, Sea Breeze 2021, starting today, are a signal to Russia of the bloc’s readiness to act together.
Military observer Anton Lavrov writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in Izvestia.
He draws attention to the fact that the exercise will include the British destroyer Defender, which defiantly violated the maritime border established by Russia near Sevastopol and which had to be entered with warning firing and demonstrative bombing in front of the ship.
“The ground part will be carried out in Odessa, Ochakov, the Dniester estuary, on the Kinburn Spit, the Zmeiny and Pervomaisky islands, in the Danube River delta. There they will work on stabilizing the crisis situation caused on the territory of Ukraine by illegal armed groups with the support of a certain neighboring country. The hint is more than transparent. No one hides anymore that the purpose of such maneuvers is not so much the training and preparation of Ukrainian sailors, but rather sending some kind of message to Russia about the power of the bloc and its readiness to act together,” the publication notes.
At the same time, the author believes that the exercises will not become openly confrontational.
“The bloc itself is not ready to challenge Russia as a single whole. His naval group will not go together to test our country’s readiness to defend its borders. Only a few of its countries are ready for such actions at their own peril and risk,” writes the expert.
“Most likely, like in previous years, Sea Breeze 2021 will end peacefully. But it absolutely cannot be ruled out that after their official completion, Great Britain or the United States will resort to new provocations off the coast of Crimea. Moreover, perhaps this time they will be joined by one or more Ukrainian ships. We must be prepared for this scenario,” Lavrov sums up.
