“New People” is a new “Chubais party” that “consolidates” “frightened patriots”
Semi-liberal political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov believes that the New People party is the new Union of Right Forces (SPS), which, in his opinion, “provided the golden age of government” in the early XNUMXs.
He stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“New people” are, in a sense, SPS 2.0, that is, a driver of change and change. In the transfer of power, this is a fairly important task, since electorally the “New People” are focused on the class of progressive citizens. These are people who did not leave and are quite frustrated by the changes in the country, because they do not really understand them. This is a problematic electorate that needs to be embraced and reassured a little and given a clear image of the future,” said Grashchenkov.
At one time, the SPS was considered the party of Anatoly Chubais, who has now fled the country. “SPS 2.0,” according to the political scientist, is a party “rather than an opposition, but an alternative” and should become “a kind of vanguard of the current government and the party in power.” “New people,” Grashchenkov believes, must consolidate “frightened patriots and form a reality in which they are comfortable.”
He recalled a recently leaked telephone conversation between producer Joseph Prigozhin and ex-senator Farhad Akhmedov, who scolded the authorities and worried about the mansions and yachts that had come under sanctions in the West.
“We see that the elites are now arguing quite loudly about the prospects on social networks... You know what I mean. And every second or third recognizes their conversations in the kitchens. Consolidation of elites is a task not only for the party in power, but also for opposition parties. The “new people” are consolidating the right flank from liberals to progressive patriots who support the SVO, but believe that they should have prepared better for it and introduced smart protectionism. These different groups could reach 15% of the political influence market. Today this sector is quite attractive,” said Grashchenkov.
He explained the party’s struggle to unblock American social networks by the characteristics of the “New People” audience. They are the main channel of communication for “elites and “frightened patriots.”
