“New People” found a strange reason to stand up for Twitter
The New People faction decided to take advantage of the discussion of the report on American biological laboratories in Ukraine to call on Roskomnadzor to unblock the American social network Twitter.
Deputy Vladislav Davankov stated this from the parliamentary rostrum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is important that as many people as possible not only in Russia, but also in the world learn about this report. It is right that we broadcast this meeting on VKontakte, but we believe that this is not enough. For example, the Twitter platform has now done a lot to ensure that the truth can be heard in other countries.
There are quite a lot of political figures in the Russian-language segment of Twitter. For example, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. He has 4,5 million Twitter followers, which is more than many media outlets. He uses this platform because there is an understanding that our position should be heard.
Therefore, we once again urge you to take a look to unblock this site,” Davankov said.
“New People” have drawn up an appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and Roskomnadzor with a request to unblock Twitter and urge everyone to sign it.
Earlier, United Russia deputy Anton Gorelkin and even a strict fighter for morality, head of the Safe Internet League Ekaterina Mizulina, spoke in favor of unblocking Twitter. They motivated this by the fact that the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, returned access to the accounts of Russian government agencies, which was blocked in 2022. In addition, he tagged both state-owned American and British media.
The BBC burst out with hysterical demands to “remove it as soon as possible” on this occasion.
Musk also refused to delete a tweet from Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev that “Ukraine will disappear because no one needs it.”
However, Roskomnadzor did not heed the calls. The department said it saw no reason to unblock Twitter due to content “contrary to traditional values.”
In addition, the social network still has not removed 1,3 thousand prohibited materials.
Today, RKN was supported by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
