New details about the killers of the ex-militant of the ATO “Sarmat”
The killer of the Berdyansk ex-ATO militant of the Donbass battalion, Vitaly Oleshko (Sarmat), turned out to be a former sniper of the scandalous Tornado battalion, who, after a sensational case against his colleagues, moved to the Azov regiment.
People's Deputy Anton Gerashchenko, who is close to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Avakov, stated this on the air of the Ukrainian channel “112,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He assures that the killers were detained thanks to the professional work of the police, as well as the help of caring residents of Berdyansk, who gave special signs of the criminals. The cars in which the killer and his accomplice were traveling were also identified. A total of four people were detained - the killer and his accomplices.
“Today we can say that this is a contract killing. Now the task of the police is to find the customer,” the deputy said.
He also commented on the information that the killer is a former sniper of the Tornado battalion.
"Yes it's true. Unfortunately, many of those guys who went to defend Ukraine, when they returned, did not find a place for normal work. This is not the first such case and, unfortunately, not the last,” admitted Gerashchenko.
He also did not rule out that the killer would face life imprisonment. Gerashchenko called his accomplices “athletes from Dnepropetrovsk.”
In turn, the former first deputy commander of the Tornado battalion, Nikolai Tsukur, stated in a comment on his Facebook page that his former colleague is a defector to the Azov regiment.
“This is Artyom Matyushin, a native of the Donetsk region. In the past he served in the Tornado unit. Artyom completed a sniper training course in the battalion. Took part in hostilities. Disciplined, sober-minded, skillful with weapons,” characterizes the killer of the ex-deputy commander.
In 2015, after the arrest of seven Tornado members with leader Ruslan Onishchenko, Tsukur headed Tornado, which was withdrawn from the ATO zone to the Kyiv region.
Then the Ministry of Internal Affairs took over Tornado, Avakov’s deputy Vadim Troyan personally conducted conversations with the militants, after which Artyom Matyushin and several other Tornado members transferred to the Azov regiment.
“They didn’t just cross over, but at night they loaded sports equipment into the car and left the Tornado base with personal weapons.
In the morning, I submitted a report personally to Vadim Troyan about the disappearance of fighters and weapons. Troyan did not accept the report. He said that he had the weapons, and he transferred the fighters to the Azov unit. To date, their fate is unknown. Artyom doesn’t remember the Tornado on his FB page, but posts National Brigades,” said Cukur.
