New political forces are ready to challenge Zyuganov and Mironov, who have been parasitic on the ideas of social justice for years
In Russia there is a strong demand for a left-wing, socially oriented political party.
Sociologist Viktor Poturemsky stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would regard the potential of such a party from a sociological point of view as very high. I appreciate the request for a left-wing constructive party for justice and for the interests of ordinary people very highly. Against the backdrop of what is happening with the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, such a left-wing united party could definitely become the number two party if nominated,” Poturemsky said.
In his opinion, so far, despite its passivity, “A Just Russia” has managed to maintain this niche.
“The resource of A Just Russia is a certain ideological platform. If the communists are trying to flirt with the non-systemic opposition, the LDPR - to offer some kind of their own vision, an offer of some kind of justice from the Socialist Republic, although not fully understood, arouses sympathy and falls into public demand. People like it. In conditions of some fatigue from the party system, “A Just Russia” has some potential,” Poturemsky believes.
He believes that in the upcoming Duma elections, new political forces can seriously compete with traditional parliamentary parties.
“First of all, this is the “Pensioners Party”. It is more specific, more applied. If we talk about the specifics of Covid, then we are in a certain sense depoliticizing and asking for pragmatics - concrete results and actions. This is an interesting phenomenon that we will encounter again,” Poturemsky said.
