Two more cases of coronavirus infection COVID-19 were discovered in Crimea. The head of the territorial department of Rospotrebnadzor for Crimea and Sevastopol, Natalya Penkovskaya, stated this at a meeting of the headquarters to combat the spread of coronavirus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to her information, the infected returned to Crimea on March 28 from Thailand.

“These are citizens of the Russian Federation, residents of Kerch. In the period from March 8 to the 27th they were on vacation in Thailand, on the 28th they flew to Sheremetyevo airport, from Sheremetyevo airport they flew to Simferopol airport. The flight number, the number of contacts have been established, the closest persons have been transferred under medical observation... There is only one close contact in this outbreak, the father of one of the patients, who is 96 years old, he is hospitalized in Kerch under inpatient medical observation.

These individuals do not have clinical manifestations of the disease; at the time of hospitalization, they were identified according to the results of laboratory examinations that were carried out on the 10th day after crossing the state border of the Russian Federation into the territory of the Republic of Crimea. Remote contacts are 11 people, all have been established,” Penkovskaya said.

She also called on the taxi driver and two passengers traveling with the infected from the Simferopol airport to report themselves to doctors:

“They took a private owner in order to return to Kerch. There were two people traveling with them in the taxi. Approximately, they were traveling in a dark blue car; they picked up the car around 11 am on the 28th; two passengers were traveling with them in the taxi. One got off at the Stary Krym bus station, the second passenger was traveling with a cat, who got off in Feodosia.”

Thus, to date, 28 cases of COVID-19 infection have been confirmed in Crimea. Of these, 12 people have already recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
