“Today, more than ever, the issue of selling the cruiser “Ukraine” is becoming more pressing. After what happened, we don’t owe Russia anything and no one will consult with her. We must find a buyer and sell the cruiser as soon as possible,” Nikolaevskie Novosti quotes the official as saying.
The missile cruiser "Ukraine", the same type as the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the cruiser "Moscow", has been standing at the quay wall of the State Enterprise "Shipbuilding Plant named after 61 Communards" for the second decade.
Kyiv had previously considered selling the ship to China or India, but such a step required approval from Russia.
According to the agreement signed between Ukraine and Russia in 1993, both countries must jointly resolve issues regarding military-technical facilities that were not completed at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union. The cruiser "Ukraine" is subject to this agreement.
