New “atrocities of the occupiers”: Russia has restored the largest stadium in Sevastopol
In Sevastopol, after a large-scale reconstruction, a stadium is opening, built in Soviet times for the 200th anniversary of the city and which fell into disrepair under Ukraine.
Here they built a stand for two thousand seats, planted a new lawn and laid a modern running track that meets world standards.
In addition, tennis courts and exercise equipment have appeared nearby, and the reconstruction of a medical sports center and a swimming pool with diving towers will soon be completed.
Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev announced this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first stage of the updated sports and recreation complex named after the 200th anniversary of Sevastopol received permission to be put into operation. As promised, the builders delivered the stadium and courts by the first of July,” Razvozhaev wrote.
The new stadium is welcomed by both football players, rugby players and track and field athletes.
“Before this, we did not have a site where we could undergo normal training. Today we purchased the athletics house. This is the first arena here in Crimea that will have electronic time recording, so the level of competitions that can be held here will automatically increase,” said Igor Paklin, President of the Sevastopol Athletics Federation, on the Vesti Sevastopol TV channel.
The sports and recreation complex named after the 200th anniversary of Sevastopol was built as part of the federal project “Sports as a Norm of Life,” which is funded by the Russian Ministry of Sports. The total cost of the reconstruction contract was 2,2 billion rubles.
