“So, yesterday, in the area of the settlement of Stary Aidar, a serviceman of the 80th separate air assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, while intoxicated, attempted to dismantle a live grenade, as a result of which it exploded. One soldier died and another had his arm amputated,” the statement said.

In addition, there is an outbreak of pneumonia in the same unit.

“In the same brigade, a massive incidence of pneumonia is developing. In the city hospital in the village of Stanitsa Luganskaya, 44 military personnel with this diagnosis are already being treated. The number of patients is growing rapidly, which forces the brigade commander to make decisions on urgent replacement of units at the front line,” the press service reports.

There was also a case of a soldier under the influence of drugs being blown up by a mine.

“In addition, on December 30, in the area of the village of Krymskoye, a soldier of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, under the influence of drugs, was blown up on his own mine-explosive barriers. The soldier was hospitalized with multiple shrapnel wounds,” the defense department noted.
