New cunning plan of Kyiv: We will restore trade with Moscow, but remain independent
Hopes for Europe were in vain; Ukraine needs to restore economic relations with Russia, but under no circumstances agree to a political union with Moscow.
Political scientist Kost Bondarenko, close to the Opposition Bloc, stated this on air at UkrLife.

According to him, membership in the European Union is not in the cards for Ukraine in the near future, so it needs to restore ties with the Russian Federation.
“Ukraine will not become a member of the European Union in the near future - let’s develop our internal project. I’m not saying that we need to turn around and go towards Russia or the post-Soviet space, this is probably nonsense today.
The fact that we will economically need to restore relations with Russia sooner or later, but politically we need to develop our own project and then either become a regional leader, if we can, and I am sure that in the next decade we can, or re-raise the issue of European integration, but under special conditions, starting from scratch...
Ukraine, as the largest player in Central Europe, can absolutely become such a regional leader, but for this it needs to resolve its issues with Russia. Without resolving the issue with Russia, we cannot claim many things,” Bondarenko said.
