“There is no threat. The accident occurred at the third block of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in the electricity distribution system - this is in no way related to the production of electricity... This is in no way related to the reactor,” the minister explained.
According to him, the work of the third block will resume in full on Friday.
He clarified that the accident was caused by a short circuit. “Every effort is now being made to eliminate the breakdown in this area. According to Energoatom specialists, test launches of the unit will be carried out today or tomorrow, and from Friday it will operate at full capacity,” said a senior official.
The press service of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant did not confirm information about the accident. On ZNPP website On November 29, information appeared about the repair of the power unit. “On November 28 at 19:24, due to electrical protection, power unit No. 3 of the Zaporozhye NPP was disconnected from the network and put out for routine repairs until December 5, 2014. There were no violations of safety limits or standards. The radiation situation in the area where the Zaporizhia NPP is located remains unchanged,” the statement says.
