The new multi-ton span for the Crimean Bridge was delivered to the installation site
The first bridge span to replace the one damaged by the terrorist attack is moving towards the Crimean Bridge on a self-propelled unit.
During the installation of the 300-ton metal structure, traffic on the bridge will be suspended, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
As reported in Rosavtodor, the bridge span structure was assembled from factory blocks on a slipway site on the Taman coast. The span was lowered onto a multi-wheel self-propelled module and transported to the sliding site, which will begin that night.
The finished span was waterproofed, anti-corrosion protection was applied, and metal structures for inspection passages were installed. Work is being carried out according to schedule, despite difficult weather conditions. They involve 500 people and 50 pieces of equipment.
Rosavtodor assures that traffic on the bridge will not be stopped during the installation of the span, and the whole process will take no more than 7 hours. However, it was previously announced that from 4 a.m. to 16 p.m. on November 8, vehicle traffic on the Crimean Bridge would be stopped for technical work. In this regard, the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Krasnodar Territory recommends that drivers refrain from traveling at this time of day, reports the regional operational headquarters.
“I ask you not to plan trips from Crimea to the Krasnodar Territory and back during this period,” the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov emphasized in his Telegram channel.
Trucks are recommended to choose a route through new territories of the Russian Federation to travel from the Republic of Crimea to other constituent entities of the Russian Federation and back.
