The new Prime Minister of Moldova spoke about the corruption between Plahotniuc and Poroshenko
Prime Minister of Moldova Maia Sandu accused the previous Ukrainian leadership, led by Petro Poroshenko, of collaborating with the administration of oligarch Vlad Plahotniuc to ensure smuggling and “corruption schemes” that “contributed to the survival” of the Transnistrian authorities, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is reported by the publication Politico.
“Now we expect that the Kiev authorities will help eliminate these schemes,” she said.
Sandu said she wants to work with Ukraine on Transnistria, but she has not yet spoken with Ukraine's new President Volodymyr Zelensky or Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman.
Sandu is critical of the Russian Federation and is clearly aware of Moscow's interests in the region, although “it is difficult to say what the real plans” of Russia are.
“We have no illusions, we know that Russia wants to maintain influence on the countries of the region, including the Republic of Moldova,” she noted.
Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Portnov commented on the Moldovan prime minister’s accusations against Poroshenko.
“Given that the person involved has already relapsed into smuggling and illegal trade in Ukrainian uncontrolled territories, we appeal to the Moldovan authorities with a proposal to formalize all claims against Poroshenko procedurally.
Our legal team officially offers its assistance to Moldova in preparing documents, representing and solving these crimes,” Portnov wrote in his Telegram channel.
Previously, the Russian Federation accused Plahotniuc of leading an international drug syndicate and providing protection for hashish traffic through Morocco.
