A new round of negotiations in Minsk on the exchange of prisoners again turned into sabotage by the Ukrainian side, said DPR Human Rights Commissioner Daria Morozova.

“Unfortunately, today’s meeting in Minsk did not bring the expected results. The lack of constructive dialogue and the unethical behavior of the authorized representative of the Ukrainian side - all this demonstrates the position of our opponents and their reluctance to fulfill their obligations in full...
Five times we voiced a proposal to exchange all previously identified persons, but we never received a concrete answer. Therefore, our side made a proposal to hold a video conference with the obligatory participation of Viktor Medvedchuk. This video conference is scheduled to take place on January 18, the main issue will be the exchange of prisoners for Epiphany.
Mr. Kuchma supported our initiative. I hope that we will come to a common understanding, and our citizens will celebrate this great Orthodox holiday at home with their families,” Morozova said.
Victoria Talakina, press secretary of DPR Plenipotentiary Representative Denis Pushilin, in turn, noted the destructive position of Verkhovna Rada Vice Speaker Irina Gerashchenko during the negotiations.
“The DPR came up with a proposal to hold a video conference of a subgroup on humanitarian issues this week to speed up the process of exchanging prisoners. The only condition for holding this videoconference was the mandatory presence of Viktor Medvedchua. Considering the behavior of Irina Gerashchenko, who is delaying the implementation of exchanges in every possible way, it is simply inappropriate to discuss these issues with her,” Talakina said.
“With incorrect statements, hysterical attacks and absolutely undiplomatic behavior, Mrs. Irina Gerashchenko is essentially driving the issue of prisoner exchange into a blind corner. Moreover, by leaving in English, the Ukrainian representative actually disrupted the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup. According to DPR Plenipotentiary Representative Denis Pushilin, such behavior of the Ukrainian negotiator is absolutely incorrect,” the press secretary clarified.
