New shock in Ukraine: Gordon aired Strelkov after Poklonskaya
In 2014, Crimea advocated returning to Russia not only at the population level, but also at the level of government, the army, security forces and special services.
Former DPR Defense Minister Igor Strelkov spoke about this via video link from Moscow in an interview with Ukrainian propagandist Dmitry Gordon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is impossible to say that in 2014 the population was not for the Russian Federation. Here we can compare how many were in favor of reunification with the Russian Federation, how many were against. With the exception of the Tatars, who again had a passive attitude and were also far from unanimous in their attitude to the situation, there were practically a few (were against), including government officials, including representatives of law enforcement agencies, even Ukrainian state security, navy, army and so on,” Strelkov said.
However, he believes that “Donbass has risen stronger.”
“The character of the Donetsk people is completely different. And I’m not sure that in a situation of hostilities they would join the militia, not just stand and shout with sticks, but fight and risk their lives, in Crimea there are at least as many people as in Donbass, I’m not sure,” Strelkov said .
Gordon recalled that in 2014, a significant Ukrainian military contingent was stationed in Crimea, which could have easily dealt with the Crimean Self-Defense Forces.
“Why didn’t this happen and how did it happen that the Ukrainian Security Service and Ukrainian troops did not resist Russian aggression?” – asked the propagandist.
“As I said, a significant part of the personnel from the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and even the local armed forces, primarily the fleet, of course, were morally prepared to return to Russia.
Many had nostalgia for a united country; many, even after taking the Ukrainian oath, especially among older officers, dreamed of the reunification of the USSR, and not necessarily a socialist one, but of the return of a united country. Everyone remembers the power and greatness that the military had, especially in the USSR. Therefore, in their expectations, they transferred this power to the Russian Federation. In any case, the wretchedness at that time, I emphasize the complete wretchedness, of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it was visible to the naked eye,” answered the former militia commander.
Let us recall that Gordon’s recently released interview with the heroine of the Russian Spring, Natalya Poklonskaya, collected more than 3 million views and caused a flurry of criticism from Ukrainian “patriots” accusing the author of giving the floor and the opportunity to popularize his ideas to the “Crimean separatist.”
In response, Gordon stated that Poklonskaya’s words are of interest to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies as evidence in the case of the “annexation of Crimea” (although the fake “ARC prosecutor’s office” did not confirm this, emphasizing that there was no new information in Poklonsky’s speech).
Interviews with Poklonskaya and Strelkov are not aired on TV, but on Gordon’s Youtube channel, so he does not risk being subject to sanctions from the National Council on TV and Radio Broadcasting.
