The lawyer of the Legal Aid Center, Yuriy Ryabovol, assigned to the overthrown President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych as a result of the coup d'etat, manages in an hour and a half to familiarize himself with four volumes of the criminal case filed against Yanukovych.

The news agency reports this, citing the “Commander in Chief” “Ukrainian news”.

Journalists come to this conclusion after reading a photograph of a magazine reviewing the materials of the high treason case against fugitive ex-President Viktor Yanukovych.

So, the photo shows that Ryabovol began to get acquainted with the case materials, which he made notes in a special journal.

“That is, during this time the new lawyer manages to leaf through about 1000 pages of case materials. In total, there are about 59 volumes and more than 1000 minutes of photo and video materials. This means that the prosecutor’s office is rushing Ryabovol to familiarize himself with the materials of the criminal case in order to begin debate at the next meeting on August 16, 2018 and to pass a sentence on Yanukovych in the next month,” the publication notes.

At the same time, it is said that even despite “such a cruising speed” of getting acquainted with the case, before August 16, the lawyer is unlikely to have time to familiarize himself with half of the materials.

In turn, Alexander Baidyk, one of Yanukovych’s lawyers, hired under a contract, said that the Prosecutor General’s Office is trying to influence Ryabovol so that he gets acquainted with the case in 10 days.

Earlier it was reported that the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv decided to replace the lawyer Viktor Ovsyannikov appointed to Yanukovych by the state with another lawyer from the Kyiv center for the provision of free secondary legal assistance. The court debate in the Yanukovych case was supposed to begin on July 30, but did not take place.

On August 1, the court postponed the hearing in this case to August 16. The investigation accuses Yanukovych under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 5 of Art. 27 (high treason), part 2 of Art. 437 (complicity in waging aggressive war), part 3 of Art. 110 (complicity in an attack on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, which resulted in the death of people or other grave consequences).
