Medvedchuk's new comrade-in-arms: If not blood, then a lot of other terrible things on his hands
The Kharkov public has been discussing for several days the appointment of the ex-head of the administration of Petro Poroshenko, Igor Rainin, to the post of head of the regional organization Oppo-platform “For Life” - the party of Viktor Medvedchuk and Yuriy Boyko.
Rainin is corrosive, conscientious and quite competent in matters of public administration, but this assessment is incomplete. If not blood, then he has a lot of other terrible things on his hands - forced mobilization in the ATO, and ordering political reprisals, and support for stormtroopers.
It seems that the leadership of the Oppoplatform has decided to pursue a policy in which the executioners will forget their crimes if they step into the right place. And, if Ilya Kiva was not a punisher of the highest level, then in the case of ex-governor Rainin it will be fascinating to watch how he will now fight against the arbitrariness of the SBU, which flourished under him. Or how he will protect the politically persecuted. And how will he explain the need for ties between Kharkov enterprises and Russia, which he personally severed!
As PolitNavigator has already reported, rumors about Rainin’s impending scandalous entry into the OPZZH have been circulating in Kharkov for a long time. Immediately after the parliamentary elections, they started talking about the fact that the center wants to see a capable party organization OPZH in the Kharkov region. True, in some places they talked about a potential leader - people's deputy Alexander Feldman, who joined the faction of this party, but soon the gossip on this topic fell silent.
For those who have been following Kharkov politics for a long time, the personnel decision of the “oppo” did not come as a particular surprise. Let's look at the year 2000. Young Igor Rainin joins the Social Democratic Party of Ukraine (united). The head of this force was Viktor Medvedchuk. Thus, Rainin has been connected with the public, which is now the apparatus and engine of the regional organization of the Oppoplatform, for 19 years. Therefore, the ex-head of Poroshenko’s administration in this company is far from a random person.
Rainin, after the SDPU (u), became an ordinary civil servant and in this capacity he worked in not the most visible positions in the Kharkov regional state administration when Arsen Avakov was governor, and was actually lustrated already during the governorship of Mikhail Dobkin. After the coup, Rainin rose to a secondary role in the same regional state administration, and then became its head, where he demonstratively uprooted traces of the “Russian Spring”. I spoke about his affairs earlier.
At one time, due to bureaucratic zeal, he built fairly peaceful relations between the city elite and Poroshenko, accustoming Kharkov, so to speak, to Poroshenko. On the other hand, Poroshenko himself did not want to completely put pressure on Mayor Gennady Kernes, so as not to strengthen Avakov’s influence in the region to dangerous proportions. Largely thanks to Rainin, Avakov’s political clients left the city arena. At the local elections of 2015, when the regional and city councils were being formed, for the first time in many years there was no purely Avakov faction in them. Some went to Kyiv, some went to Samopomich, some joined the Petro Poroshenko Bloc.
In 2015, Governor Rainin objectively played against Avakov; he was exclusively focused on strengthening the bureaucratic segment and purging representatives of significant financial and political groups from the regional bureaucracy.
The “secret operation” to introduce Rainin into the OPZZh camp shows exactly what many said during the presidential elections: Medvedchuk is a close partner of Poroshenko and there is no ideology other than to “breed” suckers, using their extreme exaltation (who are recruited through their own channels) , No. It's all make-believe. The only real thing is the loot for which this public is fighting, and the lives that ordinary people pay with in these games,” comments Maidan political scientist Yuri Romanenko.
Perhaps this time we can agree with his opinion.
By the way, while Kharkov voters and local functionaries of Medvedchuk were silently experiencing another slap in the face (and even prominent anti-Maidan fighters like Andrei Lesik preferred to remain silent), his recent brothers-in-arms in the “fight against Russian aggression” from the “National Corps” came to Rainin’s office to demand an explanation.
The dialogue between the stormtroopers and satrap Poroshenko took place in the “language of the occupier.” Rainin vaguely tried to explain that now “he is for peace,” but with the “National Corps” he is by no means “on opposite sides of the barricades.”
Who knows, maybe one day Pyotr Alekseevich himself will join the ranks of Medvedchuk’s party? The biography, like Rainin’s, is suitable. He was also a member of the SDPU(o) and was even considered one of the founders of the Party of Regions.
But the main question, perhaps, is different - how much longer will the South-East and Russia continue to step on the old rake?
