The topic of the first lesson was chosen because of the “socio-political situation”, as well as in connection with “recent events, the Kremlin’s occupation of Crimea, the terror of Russian militants in the East of the country,” the Ministry of Education reported.
The purpose of the first lesson is to develop in children an understanding of the value of the unity of Ukraine as a national idea for the development of a democratic, free and wealthy state, the Ministry of Education and Science explained.
During the lesson, students will be introduced to the main historical events in the formation of Ukrainian statehood. “Students must recognize themselves as Ukrainians, cultivate a willingness to serve Ukraine through work, defending the interests of the country,” the ministry said.
At the beginning of the lesson, the Ministry of Education and Science recommends declaring a minute of silence to honor the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, as well as all the soldiers who died in the struggle for the freedom and integrity of the country.
As Navigator reported, the Ministry of Education previously recommended terminating employment relationships with teachers who sympathize with the DPR and LPR.
