The new charter of Sevastopol will be adopted in a month and a half, - Chaly
The new Charter of the city of Sevastopol, according to which the governor can be elected by direct voting, could be adopted in just “a month or a month and a half.” This norm will come into force immediately after adoption by the Legislative Assembly, and in the event of early elections it will regulate the entire process.

Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Alexey Chaly stated this at a briefing on Tuesday. According to him, deputies are currently working on amending the city charter, including introducing direct elections of the governor.
“I think this should happen within a month or a month and a half. We need to adopt a new charter, but I would like you not to be confused. This does not mean at all that we will elect a new governor tomorrow. These are unrelated processes. This is a change in the city norm, and as soon as the next elections come - they are planned and it’s clear when they come, but unscheduled ones may come at another time - we will already use this new norm,” Chaly said.
“As soon as the new charter is adopted, respectively, after it comes into force, we will live according to the new charter,” he added.
