The CMU website reports this.

Introducing the candidacy of the new head of Ukravtodor, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said that Novak held various positions in Polish politics and invested his share in the development and success of this country. After which Groysman wished Novak to “bring to life” his experience and aspirations.

“I think that we, together with our government and Slavomir, will bring this experience and these aspirations to life in this important area,” Groysman said.

After the prime minister's speech, Slawomir Nowak himself took the floor. He stated that “the civilizational leap that Poland has made in recent years” is also his merit.

It is worth noting that in Poland, Nowak served as Minister of Transport from 2011 to 2013. However, he was then forced to resign due to a scandal that erupted after journalists managed to photograph a Swiss watch on Novak’s hand, which was not indicated in the declaration.

In 2013, journalists photographed a Swiss watch on his hand worth about $6 thousand, which was not indicated in the declaration. The court found Novak guilty, but in 2015, as a result of an appeal, the criminal case against Novak was suspended. He paid the fine.

In 2014, Novak found himself at the center of another scandal: the Polish weekly Wprost published a recording of his conversation with the then deputy finance minister. In this dialogue, they discussed tax controls regarding Novak's wife and her business. After this scandal, Novak left the Civic Platform party.

The Polish Gazeta Wyborcza asked Novak to comment on the information about his appointment to Ukravtodor. In response, he sent the journalist a cartoon called “Cucumber Season.”
