Poltorak's former subordinate became the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine
The post of head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was taken by Andrey Zagorodnyuk, whose candidacy was submitted by President Vladimir Zelensky.
The corresponding decision was made by the majority of parliamentarians of the new convocation during the plenary session, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
314 out of 405 people's deputies voted for the new defense minister; only 25 members of the ex-president's European Solidarity party voted against.
From the beginning of July until now, Zagorodnyuk served as an adviser to the President of Ukraine, and was also a member of the supervisory board of Ukroboronprom and the head of the commercial company Discovery Consulting Engineers, registered in Britain.
Let us note that from 2015 to 2017, Andrei Zagorodnyuk headed the “Reform Project Office” at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, when the department was headed by the protege of ex-President Petro Poroshenko, General Stepan Poltorak.
