Nuland does not mean anything good for the LDPR by “autonomy” of Donbass
The status of Donbass, which US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland suddenly spoke about, could mean a complete cleansing of the territory from Russians and total Ukrainization under the guise of “autonomy.”
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are the Minsk agreements, and the powers of this autonomous entity, which are now called unrecognized republics, are more or less described there. To the point that they will have the right to control the security component, the police, today they have some armed people, they have weapons, even heavy ones, so they retain the ability to control these weapons and remain there, this is how it is written in the Minsk Agreements. Now, the question arises, since Nuland started talking about this, maybe she thinks that we need to abandon this?” the expert noted.
“And this will mean an absolute dead end. Well, how can they refuse armed people if everything they hear is not just heard, but read the adopted laws, the draft law on the transition period. How can the people who live there and who have weapons, who are ready to defend themselves, agree to be disarmed?” - said the political scientist.
“It seems to me that these words of Victoria Nuland mean that it is still a question of what powers this autonomy will have. That is, she wants to transfer this to the status of optional conditions. We will look for a compromise, but the meaning of Nuland’s compromise is to “get rid” of the Russians, drive them out, if possible, get the border and restore order.
Even with autonomy, but the heads of the autonomy will simply be people who are under the control of the SBU, and will receive these rights, and will imprison all the activists and those who are against it. But this won’t happen,” Pogrebensky summed up.
