Nuland: “Putin is removing chips from air conditioners and washing machines”
US sanctions against the Russian Federation will work in the future; the Russian auto industry has already begun to produce cars without air conditioning and seat belts, and armed systems are equipped with chips from washing machines.
This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland during the “Yalta European Strategy” forum organized by oligarch Viktor Pinchuk (held in Kyiv after 2014), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Sanctions in the field of high technology may not work immediately, but in the long term. We've heard the story before, that Putin and his army are removing chips and parts from air conditioners and washing machines in order to put them into the designs of their military systems.
You know that in Russia they produce cars without air conditioning and without seat belts. We will continue to work hard with sanctions that can produce results that can be easily tracked using reliable tracking methods,” Nuland encouraged her Ukrainian charges.
