We need to have time to stuff Ukraine with weapons in the first half of 2023 - President of Latvia
Western countries must manage to transfer all possible weapons and equipment to Ukraine at the beginning of 2023, while the Russian military industry is busy producing heavy weapons, “which will compensate for the losses of 2022.”
Latvian President Egils Levits stated this during the World Economic Forum in Davos, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This is a myth - about a powerful military Russia, it has disappeared. However, there is still an impatience, perhaps due to fear of escalation, in some Western countries to provide weapons that can make a difference. Because now, maybe a few months, six months, we have a window of time. The Russian military industry will move forward, will produce tanks and other weapons that Russia has already lost, and then it will be much more difficult for Ukraine,” he said.
“Ukraine needs more weapons to resist. Therefore, I believe that the correct policy today, at the beginning of 2023, is to provide all the necessary weapons - tanks and everything else in such a way that the Ukrainian army can have an advantage in this period of time. Until the Russian military industry began producing all these weapons. The first half of 2023 is decisive,” the Latvian urged.
