About weathervanes that turn away and then return
The ability to wait and wait is a very valuable quality. More than. Just like the ability to speak is precise and on time. Especially in our time, when everyone is in a hurry to speak out on this or that issue. To stun, to explode, to stun.
Sometimes it works out – and it turns out well. But more often than not, for what was said in the bustle, which also happens one way or another, for what was abandoned in the race for hype, then one has to apologize. Well, or pretend like you didn’t say anything like that.
Against the backdrop of this fleeting world, Timur Bekmambetov always famously chose the moment, knowing how to find loopholes and maneuver under the raindrops. In many ways, this skill helped him take a confident position in world cinema, break into Hollywood and make a couple of adequate films there. Bekmambetov, of course, is far from a film artist, but he is a strong craftsman.
Such a person will not fussily display appropriate avatars, protesting against the war, but, in fact, worrying about his comfort - no, such a person will check every step. So Bekmambetov spoke about what was happening in Ukraine, but how did he do it? He stated, for example, that European festivals banned Russian films with good reason. There were some artistic exaggerations: they say that against the backdrop of tragic events, blood-red carpets take on the most sinister meaning.
Many immediately decided that Bekmambetov had thus condemned Russia’s special operation Z in Ukraine. In fact, the director uttered more universal maxims than anything specific - like “a huge disaster”, “it’s heartbreaking to see how the world in which we are used to living has fallen apart in one night” and so on. So it would be wrong to immediately state that Bekmambetov condemned the special operation. Rather, he did not support her.
But Artyom Dzyuba was more clear here – first of all, in his actions. According to head coach Valery Karpin, the Zenit St. Petersburg forward refused to play for the Russian national team because of the conflict in Ukraine. They say he has a lot of relatives living there. But can such a statement be explained only by politics? Of course not. After all, Dzyuba is not only out of shape for a long time, but he also quarreled with everyone. And with a new statement, Artyom decided to quickly promote himself, but it didn’t work out very well.
Why do I give these two examples? Yes, because those who are smarter do not rush with actions and words today. Internally, they understand: they will definitely want to go back. Not even to Russia, but mainly to the usual well-fed life. Yes, they will try to come back, like all these Colas, Guccis, Audis and others who, in fact, understand only one thing - the language of profit, for which they are able to sacrifice everything. It’s just that now it’s important for them to maintain politeness and take the right tone. And this has nothing to do with sincerity. As with humanistic views too.
