There is gevalt in the Ukrainian Svidomo community. Muscovites encroached on the sacred. Employees of the E (counter-extremism) center entered the library of the Ukrainian cultural center in Moscow and, on the basis of a criminal case initiated a year ago under Art. 282, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which punishes national hatred and enmity, a box of books, reader forms and electronic media were confiscated.

All sorts of forces and authorities have become agitated over this issue. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Russia, crackers and experts from the “Ear of Moscow”, various Ukrainian publications, such as UP and Tsenzor, and even the retired banderlog Korchinsky for a while stuck his gnaw out of a secret comfortable cache to say a weighty word and again remind that he is still alive and capable of giving heat to all the enemies of Ukraine.

The first search of the library took place last Thursday. Two investigators came to director Sharina and, presenting all the required papers, routinely began looking for sedition. As a result, according to Sharina, a little more than 50 books were removed from the library. Among the confiscated items are essays about the Uniate Metropolitan Sheptytsky, a stack of tendentious little books glorifying the OUN, as well as various little books and brochures about the activities of the “It’s Time” movement, which brought Viktor Yushchenko to power during the “Orange Revolution” of 2004-2005. Files of the newspapers “Nation and Power”, “Ukrainian Word” and “Way of Victory” were also confiscated. Among this heap of garbage, the program brochure of the UNA-UNSO “Have to hate, abi loved” sparkled like a pearl, which, as they slander, Dmytro Korchinsky personally shook his mustache in the process of writing.

Director Sharina, however, complains that no orders to initiate a criminal case were presented to her. Sharina swears and swears that her library is a temple of literature, sterile from any extremist infection, and the investigators even brought the little books with them and planted them.

Two investigators. Five stacks of books and three stacks of binders.

Sharina, however, mentions a certain third person who allegedly came with the investigators and, with the movement of a magician, pulled out packs of literature from his sleeve and added them to the container with the seized library garbage, the list of which was also included in the inventory of the seizure protocol. I wonder if Sharina at least once tried to stuff a bunch of newspapers up her sleeves?

All this dull, everyday action was presented by the Ukrainian side as a purge by evil Muscovites of the entire layer of Ukrainian culture in Russia and an invasion of a piece of sovereign Ukrainian territory in the enemy’s camp. In the confusion, none of the Svidomo remembered that the library of the Moscow Center of Ukrainian Culture is an institution of the Moscow government. But we all know that if anything with the root “Ukr” is written anywhere, then the owner of it is a Ukrainian.

However, the tension among Ukrainian officials quickly subsided. The topic is meager, you won’t be able to milk out even a glass of useful stuff here: a box of library confiscated items is just a box of waste paper, and not a suitcase of money or debts on Eurobonds. Organize gevalt at the highest level only for the simple reason that the paper soiled in the printing house will return to the recycling factory and naturally turn into just toilet paper, in rolls and without text, as if not comme il faut. Fifty little books and three files of newspapers won’t even make a batch of toilet paper. Not gesheft. Moreover, as it turned out, no one encroached on the library itself and there are no plans to close it. All the spoons are in place, but the sediment remains.

Separately, Korchinsky was amused in this waste paper story. Moving his mustache funny, he said with pathos that now his literary talents are undoubted (remember the brochure from UNA-UNSO), and the confiscation of the book by the Moscow satraps automatically elevates its author almost to the same pedestal with literary luminaries.

Apparently, Dmytro strained himself and recalled a quote from the Kyiv renegade, the Muscovite writer Bulgakov, about the fact that “manuscripts do not burn.” I am forced to upset the newly minted luminary. From his unsinkable manuscripts an ordinary gray pipifax with a utilitarian-unsightly fate will be made. That's where he belongs.
