Obama and EU leaders agreed on new sanctions against Russia
Newport, September 04 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) - US President Barack Obama and the leaders of several EU countries, as well as Ukraine, agreed on the need for additional sanctions against Russia, said Deputy National Security Advisor to the US President Ben Rhodes.

“President Obama met with the leaders of Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy and Ukraine. President Obama and his European colleagues expressed solidarity with Ukraine and pledged to continue to support democracy in that country. "The leaders reiterated that they condemn Russia's open violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and agreed that it is necessary for Russia to face higher costs for its actions," Rhodes said.
“The leaders also expressed strong support for President Poroshenko’s efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the conflict,” the White House spokesman added.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the EU announced the possibility of introducing a third package of sanctions against Russia by the end of next week.
