“We don’t want Russia to fail. We don’t want it to be weakened, we want it to be a prosperous, strong and confident Russia, which was our partner and that we cope with the challenges of the world together,” Obama said during a press conference, which was held with the participation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“Russia made a bad strategic decision for itself, bad for the world, for Europe. In the face of this aggression and bad decisions, we cannot endlessly try to talk them out of it. We must show Russia that the world is united, and it can impose some price for this aggression, in principle, this is what we are doing further,” he said, emphasizing that for 70 years the United States and Europe have shown transatlantic solidarity on issues security.
“There are people in Russia who recognize that the split in the economy leads to an abyss,” Obama said.
