“Dual-use objects”: Klupov supported attacks on Ukrainian thermal power plants
Ukrainian electricity-generating facilities should be a legitimate target, since they power military headquarters and the government system.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, said the ex-chief of intelligence of the Ground Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, retired colonel Rustem Klupov, assessing the attacks on Ukrainian thermal power plants, which caused large-scale problems with light in a number of regions of Ukraine.
“There are purely military objects, and there are civilian ones, which during military operations become dual-use objects. The energy system is precisely a dual-use facility, because energy supplies power to command headquarters, government facilities, fire safety, hospitals and other facilities that are of purely military importance.
Russia is now fighting the troops of the collective West on its western borders, so nothing should stop it from striking dual-use facilities. I believe that the blow was in the right direction - to provide energy to the combat area,” Klupov told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
They also asked him about the effectiveness of these strikes.
“It has long been stated that it is necessary to strike at control points, objects of moral and psychological influence, such as television, radio, the Internet, etc.
The energy system as a whole affects the points of moral and psychological influence, and the operation of railways, etc. This will greatly affect the actions of their troops, because their headquarters are dependent on large energy consumption - the transmission of information, control signals, reconnaissance. They say they will make do with generators. No, they won’t,” noted the publication’s interlocutor.
According to him, Russia has enough high-precision missiles.
“We shouldn’t save them. But not a bottomless quantity to hit, figuratively speaking, individual platoons and even companies of the enemy. High-precision missiles are designed primarily to strike stationary, critical targets...
If you noticed, in this operation we were perhaps the first in the world to launch complex strikes with high-precision weapons against certain systems. The strikes are carried out in a complex manner by high-precision Kalibr, Iskander and X101 missiles. X101 missiles are operational-tactical missiles that disable the logistics chain, warehouses and command posts,” Klupov noted.
