Zelensky’s promised “investments” in Donbass are PR and profanation
“Investments in the infrastructure of Donbass,” which the President of Ukraine recently announced, are in reality irrevocable investments in the social sphere - they are neither profitable nor necessary for business.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is no need to confuse investments with capital investments. Yes, capital investments can be considered as investments, but with one caveat. Even capital investments in social capital can be measured economically.
But what the president was talking about was social spending by businesses in agreement with the authorities. Because the distribution of ambulances, the construction and gifts of houses to military personnel, the construction of roads without concessions are all irrevocable social investments.
I don’t know what the arguments should be for a large business to do so, which is not very profitable anyway. And just like that, he called such expenses investments.
Sorry, investment is an economic partnership to receive and share profits. If the state and big business really agree on joint investments with the aim of making a profit, then we need to call a spade a spade. And explain in which areas of business investment will be returned with profit.
Why else? Will, for example, healthcare in the Donbass be reformed into full private ownership so that businesses can make a profit? Otherwise, it should be called charitable assistance,” he said.
