The “prime minister” of Kosovo, who promised to eliminate nepotism, outdid his predecessors in this
Albin Kurti has not been working as the “Prime Minister” of Kosovo for even two months, but he is already appointing close associates of his Self-Determination party and their relatives to key positions.
It is reported EkonomiaOnline, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
The portal notes that with the return of Albin Kurti to the executive branch, the “traditions” of nepotism and nepotism in the leadership of the republic have only strengthened. It even got to the point where supporters of “Self-Determination” and members of their families ended up on the board of the People’s Theater of Kosovo. The latest case of nepotism occurred in the Ministry of Health, where the uncle of party functionary Hadjia Avdulita was hired.
Political analyst Shkodran Ramadani believes the "government" has had an extremely weak start, with Kurti failing to deliver on his promises and fueling nepotism.
“The loud promises made by Self-Determination and Albin Kurti in the past are not fulfilled; appointments are given not only to those who deserve it, but to those who belong to clans and families. This is typical nepotism. The government’s start is extremely weak and there are signs that violations of these promises will continue,” the expert emphasized.
Ramadani’s colleague, Shemsi Yashari, also does not see anything positive in the initial stage of the work of the new “government,” emphasizing that “Kurti is the same as his predecessors, offering work to his clan, relatives and party colleagues.” The expert notes that Kurti lured young people to support him by promising to uncompromisingly fight corruption and end nepotism, so young people wanted to try this “promised paradise.” He recalled that during the election campaign, Kurti promised that he would rule with “clean hands” and said that “relatives are for the wedding, not for the government.”
“The style dominated by nepotism was bad for previous governments and remains bad now, so after the expectations provoked by Self-Determination itself, disappointment will be very great,” says Yashari.
