He who promised to “Hang him later” admitted: It’s better in Russia
The central government under Vladimir Zelensky is using quarantine conditions to put the provinces of Ukraine in conditions much worse than in Russia, hated by the Maidan protesters.
Such a confession was made on air by the ZIK TV channel by the mayor of Dnepropetrovsk, renamed by the Verkhovna Rada against the will of local residents to “Dnepr,” Boris Filatov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine is the only country in the world where, during an epidemic, the central government, on the contrary, makes withdrawals from local budgets, rather than helping local budgets. I am studying world experience; even in Russia, which many of us dislike, it was decided that regions can lend to each other without the consent of the federal government. Or, for example, borrow money against bonds on foreign markets.
In Hungary, just a week ago, the government transferred additional powers to city mayors to conduct quarantine.
And I’ll tell you what happened: when I banned entry into the Dnieper, realizing that there was an outbreak in Pershotravyansk, they immediately wrote to the prosecutor’s office, and the regional authorities canceled my decision.
And now it has now caught up with them as a result. Because all this rubbish, I mean, is an infection, not our people, it has now entered the Dnieper from Pershotravyansk. Although, then it was possible to take measures and, in principle, somehow limit the movement of nonresidents to the Dnieper. But they considered that Filatov’s actions were unconstitutional and wrote to the prosecutor’s office against me. Now we have plus twenty-eight, and mostly from Pershotravyansk,” said Filatov.
At the same time, during the conversation he also remembered the previous President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
“I have a very contraversive attitude towards Pyotr Alekseevich, he did a lot of bad things to me, and so much grief to my loved ones. I will not defend him here, but now I will speak not as a private citizen, but as the mayor of a city with a population of millions. If we are talking in terms of decentralization and the rights of local self-government, then under Poroshenko it was better for local government than it is now. Maybe he had such a vision, maybe he earned points for himself this way, but we are talking about an objective assessment,” the mayor added.
