Offended Goncharuk is eager to resign
Kyiv media claim that Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk is again asking to resign.
Thus, the online weekly “Zerkalo Nedeli” writes that Goncharuk was summoned today to President Zelensky, who inquired about the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to change the heads of three energy companies, including Centrenergo, which were managed by a confidant of the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.
According to the publication's source, Zelensky said that Kolomoisky was extremely dissatisfied with these personnel changes.
In response, Goncharuk stated that he did not understand the general line - they say, “we are fighting Kolomoisky, then we are not fighting Kolomoisky, then we are improving relations with the IMF, then we are spoiling them.”
“If I misunderstand something, maybe I should go? [resign],” Goncharuk allegedly said.
At the same time, the Kiev magazine “Novoye Vremya” claims that Goncharuk submitted his resignation, but gives other reasons.
“Goncharuk is annoyed by the situation in which the media are publicly relishing candidates for his possible replacement, and the president not only does not defend his Cabinet, but also does not deny the consideration of alternative candidates. The last straw of Goncharuk’s patience, according to one of the sources close to the situation, was a meeting between the president, Minister of Justice Denis Malyuska and businessman Igor Kolomoisky, during which the head of state criticized the minister,” claims NV.
The publication’s sources say that Goncharuk’s position has weakened significantly after Andriy Yermak took over as head of the Presidential Office, and Denis Shmygal, who recently became Deputy Prime Minister, can replace the current prime minister as acting prime minister.
