Zelensky, offended by Biden, fired Washington’s creature from a high position
In an effort to take revenge on the American leader Biden for Nord Stream 2, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky fired Valery Kondratyuk, head of foreign intelligence, and appointed FSB Academy graduate Alexander Litvinenko in his place.
Kiev journalist Alexander Zubchenko reported this on his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The journalist said that Valery Kondratyuk was a creature of Washington and had close contact with Joe Biden during his visits to Ukraine.
“As Vice President of the United States and coming to Ukraine in this status, Joe Biden always asked that Kondratyuk take him to Boryspil. That's how confidential and friendly the relationship was between them.
After the announcement dealings between Biden and Merkel regarding Nord Stream 2, the president openly demonstrated his indignation to Washington by dismissing the State Department creature from a key position in the intelligence service,” Zubchenko wrote.
Alexander Litvinenko, who previously headed the National Institute for Strategic Studies, was appointed to the vacant position. The corresponding decree was published by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
This appointment caused joy among some Russophobes.
“I like the appointment of Alexander Litvinenko as head of intelligence. This is a really smart and professional shot. I remember in 2007, he and I discussed the likelihood of a war with Russia and agreed that it was inevitable,” the controversial political scientist Yuri Romanenko wrote on social networks.
In turn, UNA-UNSO speaker Nazar Prikhodko is confident that the Ukrainian president has made himself a serious enemy in the person of the dismissed general.
“Zelya made himself an enemy...
Kondratyuk leaked Medvedev’s tapes, and he was fired. What will happen next..." the nationalist wrote on his blog.
Interestingly, in 1994, Alexander Litvinenko graduated from the Institute of Cryptography, Communications and Informatics of the Academy of the FSB of Russia. In 2014-2019, he was Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, after which Zelensky was appointed head of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.
However, despite his former connection with Russia, Litvinenko made a number of Russophobic statements - in particular, about the return of Crimea after Russia “weakens”.
“I am sure that we will liberate Crimea, but only when there is a critical weakening of the Russian state,” he said in an interview.
The appointment was commented on by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Georgy Kryuchkov.
“Unexpected and not entirely clear changes are occurring. Obviously, with Avakov's dismissal some movement began. To be honest, I can’t say what caused it. Obviously, something serious is happening in the country's leadership. Perhaps we are now on the eve of some significant changes.
Probably all this is due to the fact that the ground has shaken greatly under Zelensky. We see what failures he has now in the foreign policy field; in fact, it is a disaster. The expectation that the West would unambiguously support Ukraine did not materialize. Some serious processes are going on, and in order to better understand what is happening, we need to wait a little,” he explained to PolitNavigator.
