Raid on Semenchenko. Political farce and discrediting justice
In Ukraine, they again remembered the once “hero of the nation”, the ex-people’s deputy from the Lvov Samopomich party, which ingloriously sunk into oblivion, and the ex-battalion commander of the nationalist battalion “Donbass” Semyon Semenchenko.
We remembered under interesting circumstances. A message appeared on the SBU website about the liquidation and disarmament by security forces of an illegal PMC of 150 people, the organizers of which were named Semenchenko and his accomplice named Shevchenko, named in the SBU release as a “NABU agent.” They, according to the SBU, “acting under the cover of security companies, recruited former military personnel, law enforcement officers and combatants.”
During a special operation to eliminate PMCs, an entire arsenal of various weapons and ammunition was confiscated. The list is impressive - from TNT blocks to machine guns. The SBU assures that the mercenaries were going to use all this stuff “to prepare for committing serious crimes, incl. against the fundamentals of national security."
They trained mercenaries at a training base near Kiev, as well as abroad. Semenchenko’s accomplice, who went into denial, let slip on the social network about the ex-battalion commander’s contacts in Afghanistan, Iraq and the United States. Obviously, cannon fodder was supplied far beyond the borders of Ukraine.
Strictly speaking, the SBU did not discover any America. Knowledgeable people have long said that Ukraine, stuffed to the very top with illegal weapons, with its tens of thousands of restless “ATO veterans”, who know nothing but to fight in life, have long become a factor in the transformation of the once peaceful Nenka into an international mercenary hub, from where relatively cheap "wild geese" flew to all corners of the world.
Moreover, even under Poroshenko, the Rada several times came close to the idea of legalizing PMCs. Deputies and experts cited astronomical sums that Independence could earn from such a business. However, things are still there. Apparently, running such a business in the shadows is still more profitable than in the light.
Ukrainian mercenaries are used not only abroad, but also in numerous business conflicts and raider skirmishes within the country. Ukrainian farmers are especially close to these guys; they are brazenly squeezing both their crops and the land itself. In particular, the former Kharkov right-wing radical, and now a “patriot for life” close to Ilya Kiva, Oleg Shiryaev, was once burned during a raid by bandits subordinate to him on one of the grain elevators in the Kharkov region.
But let's return to Semenchenko. This cunning fellow, in fact, as you know, is no Semyon, and certainly not Semenchenko. And a small swindler from Sevastopol, Konstantin Grishin. At one time, he successfully organized a PR project in the form of the Donbass battalion, without removing his balaclava from his head.
When he took it off, he rode the wave of sympathy from the Kyiv patriotic hamsters straight to the Verkhovna Rada. Where he entered into an acute conflict with Poroshenko and, as a result, became attached to Saakashvili and his shares.
The last time Semenchenko made himself known was as the organizer of actions to block the trade of coal with the LDPR. Then, let me remind you, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the GPU and the SBU fought with Semenchenko’s gang of “patriots”. The ex-battalion commander himself has made such a reputation for himself on ukropatriotism that he can hardly fit into the frame. Those interested can compare his photos from 2014 and the current ones.
Poroshenko took revenge on Semenchenko by depriving him of the rank of major, which he had fraudulently assigned to himself. Recently, already under Zelensky, the court in which Semenchenko tried to challenge his demotion confirmed the deprivation of his rank and upheld it.
The question arises: why would the SBU remember right now about the demoted pseudo-major and his shadow business? I think there are a number of reasons for this.
The first thing that immediately comes to mind is that Zelensky, especially against the background of the actions of right-wing radicals and grant-eaters under the banner of the “Sternenko case,” is terrified of an armed street. And here is a whole small and heavily armed private army near Kiev. Moreover, Semenchenko’s accomplice Shevchenko on social networks promoted the protests in the Sternenko case in every possible way and expressed support for them.
Secondly, the recent resolution of the European Parliament regarding the rampant right-wing radical banditry in Ukraine requires at least a formal unsubscribe. And who should be made the scapegoat? Karasi and Biletsky are today again in the service of the regime, serving as watchdogs against supporters of Shariy and OPZZH. This means you can’t touch them in any way. What remains are these small illegal gangs of the heroes of yesterday that have remained without a serious “cover.”
But even in this matter, Zee power demonstrated spinelessness. The fact that, against the backdrop of such serious charges and in the presence of the arsenal demonstrated on the SBU video, the organizers of the PMC were neither detained nor arrested is in many ways indicative. It is the unarmed TV expert Dudkin who can be marinated in a pre-trial detention center under far-fetched pretexts. And people who have been charged under a serious article of the Criminal Code calmly walk around free and not even under house arrest.
In a word, a farce. All that remains is to wait until the grant-eaters protesting under Zelensky’s windows with slogans to free Sternenko and the alleged murderer of Pavel Sheremet Antonenko will be joined by the same noisy cliques with posters “Free Semyon!” It looks like this will be the only exhaust from this story.
