Deception. Working in prison mode. How do Ukrainian migrant workers live in Poland?

Ukrainian labor migrants who go to Poland to work often face appalling working conditions, reminiscent of a prison regime.

Yuriy Koryagin, head of the Intersectoral Trade Union of Ukrainian Workers in Poland, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“There are cases when people work in closed spaces, they are not allowed outside so that the police cannot detain them. First of all, these are dubious enterprises that produce illegal cigarettes. There have recently been reports in the Polish press that several such enterprises have been closed.

Intermediaries promise to arrange housing for Ukrainians working in Poland, but when they arrive, there is no housing. Intermediaries take 30-50% of migrants' earnings. With an average salary in Poland of about 2 thousand zlotys, it is difficult to keep something for yourself and bring it home,” says the trade union leader.
