Kyiv, August 28 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – A rally of depositors deceived by banks and credit unions was held at the National Bank of Ukraine on Thursday.

The protesters held posters with the slogans “No to corruption in the banking system of Ukraine”, “Sberbank is a disgrace to the banking system of Ukraine”, “The banking system of Ukraine is an economic genocide of the people”, “Bankers, let stolen money burn your hands.”
As one of the participants in the action told a Politnavigator correspondent, many have been trying to get their deposits for many years. “I, like others here, was a member of one of the credit unions, of which there were many before the crisis. They did not return the deposits of their members. Some chairmen of such unions were brought to justice, while others escaped. But even with a court decision in hand, people cannot get their money back, although they wrote to the prosecutor’s office, the president, and the NBU. We decided to regularly meet at the NBU and thus fight for our rights.”
The organizer of the rally, Bogdan Tsimeyko, said that the National Bank and its policies were to blame for the non-return of money. “In the National Bank there are no patriots, professionals and simply decent people who would be guided by the interests of the Ukrainian people and the state, there are no statists, only sticklers and hangers-on. That’s why the hryvnia exchange rate increased from 8 to 14 UAH per dollar... And where are our deposits – 5 trillion UAH? They were withdrawn and stolen a long time ago and they are shouting that we don’t have money, give us refinancing.
But sooner or later the people will rise up. I call on the people to stand up. Only the people can drive out this evil spirits from the National Bank. One hryvnia = one dollar, and not a cent more.”
