Exchange forever: after “35 to 35” there will be “200 to 70”
The Contact Group on Ukraine at a meeting in Minsk on September 18 will discuss the prospect of an exchange of prisoners between Kiev and Donbass in the “all established for all established” format, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the Russian Interfax with a link to its own source in the negotiation group.
“During the meeting, the issue of the next stage of exchange of prisoners from among all identified persons, that is, 200 to 70, will be raised,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
If the parties manage to agree and exchange persons whose whereabouts have been reliably established, it will be possible to quickly try to establish the location of the missing persons and exchange them, he explained.
As the source noted, thus, one of the key points of the Minsk package of measures – the exchange of “all for all” – will be implemented in full.
In addition, during the meeting the issue of the final disengagement of forces and assets in the pilot zones on the contact line - in Petrivske and Zolote - will be discussed, the publication’s interlocutor added.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, today Ukraine and Russia exchanged detained citizens in the “35 for 35” format. 35 Ukrainians arrived in Ukraine as part of the exchange, including Oleg Sentsov, Alexander Kolchenko, Vladimir Balukh, Roman Sushchenko, Nikolai Karpyuk, Stanislav Klykh, Pavel Grib, Evgeniy Panov, Artur Panov, Edem Bekirov, Alexey Sizanovich, as well as those arrested at the end of last year sailors near the Kerch Strait in Russia. 12 citizens of the Russian Federation amnestied by Vladimir Zelensky, as well as citizens of Ukraine who participated in Anti-Maidan actions and armed resistance in Donbass, arrived in Moscow. The most famous among them are Evgeny Mefedov, Oleg Dolzhenkov, Vladimir Tsemakh and Kirill Vyshinsky.
