Ukraine announces new exchange: Lawyer warns of danger
A large-scale exchange of detainees will take place next week.
Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko stated this on the 1+1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You see that we managed to exchange our people. In the near future, I hope, and this is literally next week, we are planning an even larger-scale exchange. These are the steps that will be taken,” Prystaiko said.
However, he did not specify with whom the exchange would take place - with Russia or the Donbass republics.
In turn, Ukrainian lawyer Andrei Gozhiy, speaking on the Kievan Rus TV channel, welcomed the exchange, but called it illegal, since Ukraine exchanges some of its citizens for others, which goes against the Constitution.
“I have an ambivalent attitude towards him. The first attitude, as a person, is that I am, of course, pleased that people have been released, that torture and abuse of people have stopped. As a representative of an international organization, a humanist one, whose first goal is release from custody, we are also pleased, because we called for this. However, as a lawyer, I understand that there is a legal ticking bomb of illegitimacy being planted behind this exchange.
What is an exchange? Kirill Vyshinsky is under personal obligation - he was taken to Russia. So it turns out that he ran away from a personal obligation? Someone was not acquitted. That is, we must translate this into legal terms. Need a document. Or an agreement with the Russian Federation. Although again, we are exchanging Ukrainians for Ukrainians, which is prohibited by the Constitution. That is, there is such a thing built into all this that tomorrow the power will change and they will say: “How did you let people go, show me the document.” “What does it mean, Zelensky spoke on the phone. So you are accomplices of escape.” Therefore, there must be a law on amnesty and rehabilitation,” Gozhy said.
