Report on Western interference in Russian presidential elections released
The West has made attempts to discredit the presidential elections in Russia. Political scientist Alexey Martynov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, presenting the report “Attempts to delegitimize the 2018 presidential elections in Russia.”
Among the methods used by the West, he named an attempt to split the elite, an attempt to neutralize achievements that were significant for Russians, and to discredit the work of the Russian Central Election Commission.
“The technology of “driven hunting” was used. Comrade Navalny appeared here as the operator. He tried to initiate various investigations, which did not work. Although they were loud and greatly influenced the agenda,” Martynov said.
According to him, attempts were made to critically reduce turnout to interpret the low level of support. As well as attempts to undermine confidence in the voting results, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In '11 it worked and we saw dissatisfied people on the streets. This time it was marginalized and did not go further than discussion in the professional environment,” Martynov said.
