Shocking figures of non-combat irretrievable losses and deserters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been released
More than 33 thousand Ukrainian military personnel left their units without permission or deserted over the past four and a half years.
“Izvestia” writes about this, citing the report of the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios on the state of law and order and military discipline in the country’s armed forces.
As a military-diplomatic source familiar with the contents of the report told the publication, from the beginning of 2014 to September 2018, 33 military personnel escaped from the Ukrainian army.
“This number includes both those who left their units without permission and deserters. The chief military prosecutor does not specify what share they make up. At the same time, very few people are caught; from the beginning of this year to September, only 1587 fugitives were detained,” the newspaper’s interlocutor noted.
In addition, there is such an important trend as a significant increase in non-combat irretrievable and sanitary losses.
“By October of this year, they reached 17 people, more than 993 thousand of them were in the “joint forces operation” zone in the east of the country. The most common causes of death in peacetime were suicides (more than 6 since the beginning of the year), road accidents (more than 800), careless handling of weapons (300) and drug poisoning (272). In 275, there was also a 2018% increase in the number of military deaths as a result of intentional killings - 22 people have died this way since the beginning of the year,” the publication writes.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak admitted that Ukrainian officers are fleeing en masse from the army.
In addition, we wrote that the command of the Armed Forces plans to conduct a large-scale inspection in partsto stop the flight of Ukrainian soldiers from positions on the front line.
