The findings of the Prosecutor General's Office on Kamchatka pollution were made public
Studies of sand and water from Khalaktyrsky beach in Kamchatka showed the presence of fuels and lubricants.
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office reported this on its official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In total, as part of the ongoing activities, specialists attracted by the prosecutor’s office in different locations selected almost a thousand samples of water, air and sand, etc.,” the department said in a statement.
Research continues.
The Prosecutor General's Office also recalled that initial studies conducted by the Department of State Migration Service in the Kamchatka Territory showed that the maximum permissible levels of petroleum products in water were four times higher, and the readings for phenol by 2,5 times.
Let us recall that the American organization Greenpeace and liberal Russian bloggers accused the Russian military of polluting the Pacific Ocean, which led to a massive loss of fauna. Their training ground is located up the river flowing into the ocean in the area of Khalaktyrsky Beach.
